"Who is wise? He that learns from every One.Who is powerful? He that governs his Passions.
Who is rich? He that is Content.
Who is that? Nobody." --Benjamin Franklin

well i think benjamin franklin is one the smartest men in america because he states the truth. what hes saying is nones perfect. my favoite part of that phrase is who is wealthy is content and noone is content.
ReplyDeleteThe quote means, to me, that a person will live their life to the fullest if they never stop learning from other people, following their dreams, and being content with their own life instead of wanting more. But I think Benjamin Franklin says that nobody does that. Which I can agree with. I think that people are too worried about being the best at everything that they dont take the time to think about what they have.
ReplyDeleteI agree with what Benny here is saying. No one is perfect, but you dont have to be the smartest person, you just have to learn from your experiences and apply correction. You dont have to be rich, you just have to value what you have. Ben was certainly one of the wisest people i can think of, so i think that he has brought up a good point.
ReplyDeleteThe quote means to me that no one is perfect. And to stop striving to become somthing or someone that your not. I believe that quote still is true today even though its meaning was true 200 years ago. I also agreed with the part where he says he who is rich is content because to first be rich you have to realize what you already have. I also liked the part that quoted he who is wise learns from everyone.
ReplyDeletethis quote means, to me, that nobody is perfect. no one is all of those characteristics in life. i think that everyone has there own life.
ReplyDeleteI think you are wiseif you can make a mistake and learn from what you did. when you learn from it u generaly change the mistake and become a better person from it.this is what i think makes a person wise.I think these are the things that make you wise.
ReplyDeleteI think that Benjamine Franklin was a very wise man. I think the quote that says, " who is wise? He that learns from everyone." I think that this is a great quote because it is true. I think it's true because you can learn something from anyone yoyu come in contact with.
ReplyDeleteI think that the quote means that if you don't do everything for your self and if you listen to others and do stuff for others that you can live a good life. Also, if you follow your dreams and don't let anybody tell you what to do, you life wil be good, but, nobody is perfect and can achieve all of their goals, but as long as they try and live how they want to, it will be good.
ReplyDeleteI think what Benjamin Franklin means is that "one" who learns from others is the "one" who learns the most and becomes "rich". Rich as in one who is plentiful of others ideas. I think what Ben Frank is tring to say is that in oreder to learn from others to really learn about life.
ReplyDeleteBeing wise, powerful, and rich means to me is that you can practically do what you want and get what you want. When you wise you will have a good education and then be rich. And when your rich you can but whatever you want. When you have power you have the control of the event of the present.
ReplyDeletethat saying is very smart. people who listen to that will be smarter. i mean it's a good saying and all but some people wont understand. im smart i know wat it means. i think it makes alot of sense.it would be good for a poem. i like the way he pernonses things it sounds smarter for some reason. so ya it makes sense.
ReplyDeleteAlright, Candyman. I'm glad you get it, but why not share your personal interpretation with us thereby increasing our understanding as well?! Or, better yet, write that poem and post it--that would be AWESOME! :)
ReplyDeleteyes i agree with Benjamin Franklin. No i dont think the meaning has changed at all over the past 200 years. i think that wise means to make good decisions based on common sense, i think that powerfull means that you have self control, and i think that rich means that you have alot of people that love you.
ReplyDeleteI think Benjamin Franklin was trying to say that not all things can bring happiness. Not wisdom,or power or even wealth. Many people portray that these things are much more important than they really are. But can those things bring joy? No, sure they can help sometimes but they sure aren't necessities.
ReplyDeleteBenjamin Franklin is mostly right about, who is rich? he that is content. who is powerful? he that governs his passion. but you can be wise even not knowing everything In the Bible it calls people wise even though they do not know everything and I think the Bible is a lot wiser then him
ReplyDeleteBeing wise and rich and powerful means nothing to me. Everyone is wise and powerful in there own way and being rich well I hate the sound of it. Most people that are rich or have a lot of money doesnt care about anyone else. I've grown up in a poorer family. When we can barely afford to buy any extra things we want. No. Those things mean nothing to me.. Rich people mean nothing to me. I dont try to sound mean but when people are rich or wise or powerful they act like they are better than everyone else when really they aren't. Truthfully. I think they are worse.. They dont care.. They are self centered, and could care less.
ReplyDeleteI think that the quote is saying multiple things at once. The first thing is that money isn't important. Also that power isn't important. And that being more wise than another individual isn't important. But that all men and women are equal, no matter wisdom, power, nor money.
ReplyDeleteIn this quote i think that Benjamin Franklin meant that no one is perfect and that even if you have all the money in the world you wouldn't be happy and if you think that your the wisest person your not and that you have to respect and cherish what you have and be thankful for all what you have in your life.
ReplyDeleteI think that Benjamin Franklin was right:DD lol You have to be humble in order to learn anything, if your cocky you don't easily listen nor take advice.
ReplyDeleteDoesnt understand?
