Every week you will be responsible for posting a reply to an online journal question. This response needs to be at least one full paragraph (minimum of 5-6 sentences). Being an online journal, this is somewhat informal in nature but you do need to use complete sentences, watch your spelling, and fully develop your thoughts. Make sure your responses are adhering to the posted rules or they will be deleted. Be open, be creative, be yourself.
Now, for your first online journaling assignment. Consider the following quotation:
Don't do whatever you like; like whatever you do. --Anne M. Jennings
Describe an instance where you have applied this advice in your own life or a situation in which you could give it a try. In the picture, see how any ordinary day in the Snow household can become a great adventure with this bunch a monkeys! Life is full of amazing possibilities. It is our attitude that can lift us up or hold us back if we let it. Consider how our attitudes can be changed if we will try to see the potential in any given situation and, in turn, how different the outcome could be if our attitudes towards the situation are different. What good things could come from having a good attitude about something new? An online journal, for instance ....
This summer I went on a Youth Trip to Florida. We drove to Florida in school busses. Within 30 minutes of leaving one of the busses blew a tire. That evening another of the busses caught on fire. We no longer wanted to go on, we were tired and wanted to go home. We kept a postive attitude and tried to focus on the good things that came from the bus problems. By not turing negative and continuing to Florida we had an awesome time, grew closer to God and made wonderful memories.
ReplyDeleteWell, in my opinion, the quote means to do what you have a passion or purpose for instead of something you just feel like doing. An instance where this can be applied is in college. When choosing what you will major in, you need to major in something you have a passion for. Don't choose something just because you feel like it. That's my weekly blog on my consideration of the quote.
ReplyDeleteI went on the same trip as pirate 55 did and I completly agree. But my perspective on the saying would be how we are good at things but don't nesasarily like it. Such as a sport, for instance, people may encourage you to try out for basketball because you are good but that doesn't mean you enjoy playing it. If you like a different sport but aren't as talented as others, go for it and enjoy it. Don't foce yourself to do things that people think you should do, do it because YOU want to.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, the quote means that you should always have a good attitude about what your doing, no matter what your doing. You dont always get to do what you like, but should always try to make the best of it. An example I would use for this quote, is when I went on a school trip to a camp. We all got split up from our friends, but in the end we all had good attitudes and had a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteit means to not do whatever you do, to other things. like if you take off your shoes in a way that hurts you, dont do it to your friends feet.when people tell me to do things the way they do it makes me mad. i like to do things the way ive always done things. si those who dare to change me i will smight the, no im just playen. but seriously dont change me or try.

pirate 55s story reminds me of the time before cristmas i was going to work with my dad and i started his jeep so it would warm up because it was cold out. i went in side to get my tool bag and i came out and his jeep was on fire! i ran inside and grabbed the fire extingusher and put the fire out. it turned out the heater motor started the fire but the the extingusher made a bigger mess than the fire but it was still runnig so we still went to work
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion. If you have a good attitude you seem to have a better time. Also you seem to have less things go wrong. Right now I have to play soft ball and it is not my favorite game, but sense i have a good attitude about it I have a good time. Unlike some other people..... LOL
ReplyDeletethe quote to me means that don't just do things that benefit you. do things that benefit other people. because you will feel better about yourself doing good for others than being selfish.
ReplyDeleteTo me this quote means to have a good attitude no matter what it is that you are doing. For example I play on an aau basketball that we practice all year round. The hardest part of it is the practices and most days I don't even want to go. I figured out that if you have a bad attitude about it then it is worse and i don't learn anything. However if I look forward to practice I end up learning a lot and have fun doing it. This kind of thinking can help you with all areas of life.
ReplyDeleteGreat comments so far!! If you haven't posted yet, GET TO IT!! Better late than never!! :)
ReplyDeleteI think that this quote means that if you are going to do something, make it something you love. If you don't love doing what it is that you do, you won't do or try your best at it, and while it may not be what you want to do entirely but at least try your best.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, the quote means that if don't do something just because you like to do it, but if you are doing something you should like it.
ReplyDeletethis quote to me means that if your attitude is good then you will be happier and will be more successful. it also kind of means to perservere like im on a uaaa baseball team and i have to keep trying so i can get better and succeed
ReplyDeleteI think that this quote means that you should'nt necessarely find things you like to do. Instead you should find positive things about what you are doing.when I was supposed to clear my grandfathers back yard with my brother, but I did'nt complain I saw it as a learning experience.
ReplyDeleteI have heard this quote before and i still have the same opinion on it. You should try to have a possitive outlook on whatever you do. Try being optimistic. Believe it or not, life comes alot easier that way. The more possitive attitude, the better the outcome in the long run.A simple example could be being obligated to clean my room before i go out. On the bright side, the faster i get it done the quicker i get to hang out with friends. The easiest thing to do is do just turn some music on and get it done.I could complain but it would take twice as long to finish the job.
ReplyDeleteFour years ago my parents told me that we had to move to a new state. It was hard for me because I had to leave my friends behind and I knew that there was going to be a whole new environment full of peers unknown of. My attitude was more pleasant back in AZ because I was more comfortable back there. My attitude is different now that I'm used to this place I've been living for quite awhile. The good things come from having a good attitude is that every where you go you'll meet new people. Outside that door is a whole new prospective.
ReplyDeleteWell, I believe that the quote"Don't do whatever you like;Like whatever you do" means to try new things and not to try only what you know you like. It never hurts to try new things... If you think that you wont like something and you try it theres a 50 50 chance that you will like it... I remember about 5 or 6 years ago we moved here.. I didnt like it but eventually I got used to it and now I have a lot of friends. This quote to me means when you do things to have fun with it and have a good attitude about it. Thats what this quote means. In my opinion.
ReplyDeleteI think the quote means to do what you have a passion for. Don't do it for anybody else do it for yourself. It may also mean that when you do something do it right. Don't do anything that you don't want to do. Also do your best at whatever you do, don't do anything that doesn't mean anything to you. This is what the quote means to me.
ReplyDeleteTo me the quote means you should do what you think is right or for the best, and you should not do what other people want or tell you to do. You should have respect for yourself and stand by the decisions. Always think before you speak and be respectful to others around you.
ReplyDeleteI think that this qote represents how you should live your life, It is supposed to be to the fullest, the way you think it should be and that you can't second guess what you belive are good decisions.
ReplyDeleteDo what your gut tells you:) respect yourself, have fun with your life. Making everything positive makes you a person who'd people would LOVE to be around :D! Nobody likes to be around someone who's sad and grumpy all the time.
