“Social Media is about sociology and psychology more than technology.” – Brain Solis Principal of FutureWorksI heard a suggestion this week about how our class should have a facebook page instead of a blogsite. For our classroom purposes, this isn't entirely practical. Part of the beauty of the blogger system is the anonymity it provides allowing students to express themselves candidly without actually having to identify themselves in the process. However, I would be open to adding a facebook page for our class where I could leave reminders to blog and a link to the blogsite as well as reminders about due dates and such, and you would be free to ask me questions about assignments or whatever at any time? What do you think? Would that sort of reminder be a help? For this week's journal entry, give me your opinion about a class facebook page and tell me what you think about social networking in general. Do you love it or do you hate it? And WHY?! :)
i love facebook and other social networking sites. first reason is cause they help me stay in contact with my friends and second is cause they help me meet new people. i think we should have a class facebook page because it would allow us to figure out the class material better and allow us an excuse to be on facebook.

ReplyDeleteAlright Yeah Boi, let me just say again, a student requested it and I'm just looking for feedback here. And IF we do get a class page, Mrs. Snow isn't going to be "friending" anybody. If you want to be able to get online reminders about blogs and due dates or want to be able to ask classroom questions anytime, you can friend ME on the class page or miss out!

Well... For my idea on the Facebook page, I'm indifferent, but I'm into Facebook and all. I really wouldn't use it, but someone else could. It wouldn't hurt anything, I guess is what I'm saying.

I think that a class Facebook page would be good because most of the kids in our class have a Facebook. Facebook is the only social networking site I use so I don't really have an opinion on any of them, but my opinion on Facebook is that I like it. I don't love Facebook or hate it, but I like it because i get to talk to my friends but it gets boring after a while because there isn't very much to do.
ReplyDeleteI think that having a class facebook page would help a lot. I know I am on facebook all the time, and having a class page would help me remember to do my blogs. I think social networking sites can be okay, if you don't give out too much of your personal information.. Hide your profile and your pictures from people you aren't friends with, and just be really careful about what you post. Social Networking sites are also great because you can communicate with your friends.
ReplyDeleteWell a class facebook page sounds fun, but I don't have a face book. Yeah call me crazy. My parents wont let me get on because they say facebook and other social networks aren't very private and they don't want some creeper looking at my pictures or personal information even though I have told them that facebook is safe. I've tried everything but nothing can convince them to let me get one. Therefore, I could really care less about social networking.

ReplyDeletei am on facebook alot, i think it has changed the view and the use of the inteernet, it has changed the way of communication. fb was origonaly created as a dating/social sight. and fb has over 500 million subscribers and is worth over 25 billion dollars!!!!!!!!! the creator is the youngest billionair in the world!!

ReplyDeleteI think its a great idea to blog using a facebook page.I love social networking and i think its a much easier way to connect with people.Plus i could do it on my phone bc i couldn't type 'snow9th.blogspot'before because i broke my 9 button :(

ReplyDeleteI think giving the class a facebook page is good cause students, like me forget to blog and a usually go on facebook everyday so know i wont forget and that will improve my grade.
