Online Journal Entry #13

"We should come home from adventures, and perils, and discoveries every day with new experience and character." Henry David Thoreau
In Homer's Odyssey, we have been reading of the great adventures of Odysseus. Some of these adventures are the result of the choices he (or his crew) made and others are repercussions from the gods for his actions or attitudes. For this week's journal entry, write about YOUR greatest adventure in life so far. It can be a story of travel or mystery. Or it can be what began as a day like any other, when suddenly something unexpected happened. If there is no experience you can come up at this moment, write about a great adventure you would like to embark upon in the future. Think, think, think and then describe your daring exploits or courageous enterprise to the rest of us. Like Helen Keller once said, "Life is either a great adventure ... or nothing."

  1. One adventure that I can think of is when my family and I went on vacation to Hawaii for a week. I had lots of fun going paddle surfing, snorkeling, and swimming in the ocean. There were many fun and even some scary adventures that I encountered within my trip, but its a long, long story.

  2. Umm... Probably the biggest adventure I have ever been on was baseball camp. It was the first camp I had ever been to so I was nervous. There was a hard practice every day in the hot weather, but by the end of the week I was friends with all of the people in my room and I was a better player, so I am glad I went.

  3. my greatest adventure was when i was camping. i was doing a traning corse that is mainly for adventure. it was called cope. what we did was go threw team corses and learned how to repel. when we were done with the team portin we went to the high cope which was a single person doing a challenge. we had to climb 50ft up in the air on a ladder that was made of a cable about as thick as your index finger. then you had to cross a board that was narrow come back and go across a rope then zipline down. this was one of the most challenging things to do but it was fun and worth it because it helped me go cliff diving.

  4. An adventure my family and I went on was when we went to St.Louis to see the arch. While we were at the arch we saw three gang members get arrested. It was very scary cause they just stared at us when we walked by. We also went to the city museum. I know it sounds boring but this was the most fun we had out of the whole trip. I went down a ten story slide that started at the top of the building and went to the fifth story. My whole family went into a cave that you could climb through and then i told my mom to follow me through a rather small hole she thought it would be fun so she did it. As i was climbing I heard her start cracking up.I looked back to see my mom stuck in the small hole. I laughed so hard I cried. We then decided to go back to the hotel to swim. We went swimming in the pool and we realized the pool also went out side it was very cool. Thiswas my adventure that I took with my family. Ps if you want to give me bonus for wrighting so much and at the bonus to my blog #12 it would be greatly appreciated is there any other ways to get bonus on that blog?????

  5. I have know clue what is my best adventure was because I have had so many. One of my favorite adventures probably is when I was in Mexico fishing last year. What happened was we pulled over on the shore so our drive could go to the bathroom. The three of us got off of the boat and it was super windy so the boat started to float away. The driver took off running down the shore and swam about a 100 yards and finally got to the boat. When he got back he said he was about to drown which would have left Kale and I in mexico with nothing but a pocket knife in the middle of know where.

  6. An adventure I kinda wanna go on is to visit late night with a group of my friends in a haunted house and stay the night. Like in those horror movies. And kinda like those Ghost Adventure shows. Its fascinating to learn the mysterious supernatural whats really lurking around at night.

  8. An adventure I have gone on is the school trip to Spain and Italy, I went with ten other students from Branson and parents. It was so much fun, and we had a lot of freedom to do what we pleased. Roaming around a foriegn country seems pretty scary, but at the time it was so much fun. We got to see the oldest buildings. Ruins from old Rome, it was amazing to see how things were back then. I loved it so much and I am going back this summer with the school again.

  10. Wow! It sounds like you guys have had some GREAT adventures already!! Hawaii, St Louis, Spain, Italy, Mexico, cliff diving, cruises, camping!! Sounds like some super fun adventures and some super SCARY ones!! I do not think I would like to be strapped to a bed on a boat (what if it sank?) or stranded in Mexico (yikes!!)!

But, like Yeah_Boi, I did always want to stay at the historic (and supposedly haunted) Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs!! I've toured it, but we didn't get to stay. Now that I'm old, I'm thinking maybe NOT!! :D

But like Texas76, I did used to go rapelling and LOVED it! There's a whole camping story that goes with it that I'd just as soon forget! I'm so not a camping kind of girl! :D

And Pirate 55, I want to hear more about that museum later! We are going to St Louis this summer and it sounds Awesome!! If you want to earn more points on Blog 12, go back and write another journal entry for it with actual details and I might just change it! Journal entries, folks!! These are MUCH BETTER this week! :D
