For Mythology is the handmaid of literature; and literature is one of the best allies of virtue and promoters of happiness. ~Thomas BulfinchFinally, we have finished our unit on short fiction and are ready to move on to the wonderful world of Greek Mythology! This week, we are going to learn about the Ancient Greek's views of the creation of the world and all about the gods they worshipped as well as the purpose of these myths in their society. The gods and goddesses of Greek Mythology each had their own realm of dominion and highly individualized special abilities to influence the world as they each saw fit. Thinking about all of this made me wonder, if you had your own "super power" to influence the world, what would it be and how would you use it? Would you be so different from the stories we will be reading? I can't wait to find out! :)
if i were to be a greek god i would be zues the great god of the sky and the olympians. what i would do different is i would set up civilized anarchy where the people decide what to do.

My power whoulde be to make people happey. I would make every one that was sad happey

ReplyDeleteIf i had a super power i would want it to be the ability to shape because i could be anyone or anything. I would use this super power to make world piece by shape shifting into the world leaders and making friends not enimies. :D

ReplyDeleteI dont think any "man" deserves power thats why we dont have any. if people had powers there would probably be more corruption on th earth then there is now...... BUT I would have the ability to not have to sleap :)
ReplyDeletezues is overrated he tricked his brothers posiden and hades into being lesser than him. zues was a nymphomaniac and it was belived in greece he had at least one child in every city. i would rather be aris or hades they had true power over people. hades controlled death and punishment after death, most people went to the underworld to hades so he has more people under his rule. aris controlled war which would be great if i could make people kill each other and destroy nations so i could rebuild it with my imagination i would. these two had alot better powers than just thunder lightning and lightning bolt.
ReplyDeleteGreek Mythology is the body of myths and legends belonging to the ancient greeks concerning gods and heroes. Gods helped explain natural occurrences, and period of drought would mean the gods are mad. Which would be cool to change the weather and natural resources of your emotions.

Just thinking aloud here, but let's take a burglar for instance, if you knew what he was thinking you could stop the crime before it happens! It would also be cool to have super speed, or super strength... its hard to narrow it down to one

ReplyDeleteIf I could have a super power, I would probably choose to be able to see the future or be able to read peoples minds. I could help people by being able to tell them if something bad is going to happen to them.
ReplyDeleteIf I had a superpower I would want to fly. If I could fly I wouldn't ever have to worry about traffic I could just go wherever I would want. Also if I could fly I would want to be able to fly super fast so if I wanted to go on vacation I could be there in like 5 minutes.
ReplyDeleteI would want to have the power to be able to immitate the powers of other gods and be able to copy there apperance. I would kill all of those who defied me. I dont think it would be differnt from the stories that will be reading cause Greek mithology got some wacky stuff.
ReplyDeleteI would be zeus because he is the most popular greek god. He is the star. Another reasen is because he gets all the girls haha. The last reason is because he can through lihtning bolts.
