I hope you have been remembering to READ though!! Maybe one day this week, we'll go over the guidelines; but for now, keep reading your book and look for those elements we've been discussing in class: plot development, conflict, figurative language, foreshadowing, and theme!! For this week's journal entry, I want you to tell me the name of the book you've chosen, its author, and a brief description of its exposition (what two things make up exposition again?). Also, tell why you chose this particular book and what you think of it so far!! Just give us a quick overview for now and then go back and read, Read, READ!! And don't forget about your homework there either! :)
The title of my book is Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe. The stry is about an African warrior named Okonkwo. He is known throughout the nine villages for his personal achievements. He has just defeated the greatest warrior in the village, who was known to be unbeatable...
ReplyDeleteI chose this book because it was really the only slightly interesting one that i could find. I think it's pretty cool, because there's fighting and a lot of action.

ReplyDeleteThe book I chose is called My 13th Season by Kristi Roberts. It is about a 13 year old girl that is a really good baseball player, but she had to move. She moved too late in the summer to join the school team so she had to join the team with all the kids that get in trouble. I chose this book because I like baseball and I think it is prett good so far.
ReplyDeleteThe book I'm reading is The Year Without Michael by Susan Beth Pfeffer. The only reason why I chosen this book is because my other two friends are reading it. And it's pretty short. I mean who doesn't like a short story. The story is about a family member running away and the suspense for them finding out if he's still out there alive or not. And I really really hope we don't present in front of the class.

ReplyDeleteI haven't exactly chosen a book for my review yet. I have been reading a book but I don't think I want to keep reading it. The two things that make up the expostition are characters and the setting of the story.
ReplyDeleteMy book is Eragon its about a boy who finds a rock and finds out it is an egg, that hatches and is a dragon he becomes a rider. then his father is killed by these monsters and so he is on his way to find them and kill them all...the boy's name is Eragon the dragon's name is Safira the place is midieval times Fantasy type. I am done reading my book
ReplyDeleteThe book that I got is called crossing the write by will hobbs. I haven't even opened it yet but I got it because all of the books I read of his were really good and I liked them a lot.
ReplyDeleteMy book is called night. It is by elie wiesel. It is about a young boy that was part of the holocaust. He is moved into many holding camps and is put into working camps were they work each day. the book tells all about his journy through the holocaust.
ReplyDeleteMy book is called All of The Broken Pieces. It is about a baseball player that is getting paid for selling all of his cards and stuff to the city and is making millions of dollars. I like this book because it is about baseball and baseball facts and collectibles.
ReplyDeleteThe book Im reading is called The Shack by Paul Young. So far, its about a father who takes his kids camping and then discovers that his daughter has gone missing. I chose this book because Ive heard that it was a really good book.

ReplyDeleteThe book I am reading is called Fake Boyfriend by Kate Brian. At the begining of the book they start the exposition in a coffee shop, they are all talking about eachother and their personalities. I like this book a lot, it is very interesting. I can't wait to find out how she reacts to finding out that the guy she has been talking to on myspace is really Vivi and Lane trying to help her get over her ex boyfriend Shawn.

ReplyDeleteThe name of the book that i am enjoying is three little by Ashlry Rhodes. It is a memoir about ashley and her struggles through life as a foster child. I really like this book because its a true storty and she doent hold anything back. When i was in the library choosing a book this one caught my eye because i like true storys and the description on the back made me like it even more. :D

ReplyDeleteThe name of my book is Fell Back by M.E.Kerr. In the exposition the author introduces Fell, Dr.Lasher,Lauren,Lasher,Paul Dib,and Creery.In the beginning,Lasher dies and everyone assumes it was suicide, I chose this brooke because it looked interesting and mysterious and so far, Im right.
ReplyDeleteWell the book I WANT to read is called "Runaway" it's about this 12 year old foster home girl who does NOT like her family. The older man secretly trys to seduce her while his wife is out with friends (Ewwwwww) but she finally gets fed up with it and runs away! (woot!) she's had some rough times but the cool thing about this book is that it makes you feel like you ran away WITH her and are trying to survive with her too :D
